Working Principle Clinical Centrifuge

Centrifugation Principle: use the powerful centrifugal force produced by the high-speed rotation of the centrifuge rotor to speed up the settling speed of the particles in the liquid, and separate the materials with different sedimentation coefficient and buoyancy density in the sample.

When the suspension containing fine particles is stationary, the suspended particles gradually sink due to the effect of gravity field. The heavier the particles are, the faster they sink. Conversely, particles with a smaller density than the liquid will float up. The velocity of particles moving in the gravity field is related to the size, shape and density of the particles, and also to the strength of the gravity field and the viscosity of the liquid. Particles the size of red blood cells, with a diameter of a few microns, can be observed settling under normal gravity.
